intermediate camp

Intermediate Camp is a 2-day camp designed for kids ages 8+ years old who have taken lessons that are ready for confidence boosters. Camp will begin with completing the barn chores. Riders will be refreshed on horse care, saddling, and safety. The riders will learn more in depth about riding in a trot, learning how to post, and balance in the saddle. The riders will have an opportunity to canter as long as they can demonstrate safely controlling their horse. We will also learn and practice basic training and groundwork which is essential to owning a horse one day.

What to bring: boots with a heel, equestrian helmet, pants, sunscreen, water bottles, and a packed lunch.

 

 

Refresher:

  • Horse care: Cleary Lake Veterinary Hospital is scheduled to demonstrate dental work, sheath cleaning, and practice using a syringe. Explaining what shots, dewormers, and other maintenance horses need and when they need it.

  • Saddling up and proper saddle fitting

  • Safety

  • Learning how to determine what to feed your horse

Riding and Gait Fundamentals:

  • Learning about walk, trot, canter/lobe and leads

  • Learning how to post in a trot

  • Important warm-ups

  • How to use leg wraps and bell boots

  • Using a lunge-line and surcingle

  • Barrels & games

Basic Training & Groundwork

  • Stretching techniques & flexing

  • Desensitizing activities

  • Roundpenning, Lunging, Circle Driving

Cost: $190 per rider.

The Beginner and Intermediate Camps cost a total of $190. You can pay the full $190 or $100 deposit to reserve your spot with the remaining $90 due by April 30th 2024. The total $190 needs to be paid in full by April 30th 2024 of you will forfeit your camp reservation spot. All payments and deposits are non-refundable.
