Beginner Camp
Beginner Camp is a 2-day camp designed for all inexperienced kids ages 5+ years old. Camp will begin with completing the barn chores. Riders will be exposed to horse care, saddling, safety, leading, riding, bathing, and fun games.
What to bring: boots with a heel, bike or equestrian helmet, pants, sunscreen, water bottles, a packed lunch.
Horse Care:
Cleary Lake Veterinary Hospital is scheduled to demonstrate dental work, sheath cleaning, and practice using a syringe.
A visit from the Ferrier and hoof care
Familiarizing with grooming tools
Bathing the horses
Learning what horses can and cannot eat
Saddling:
Learning types of saddles
Learning the parts of a western saddle
How to rig up the saddle to ride
Cleaning the equipment
Horse Safety:
Horse’s blind spots
Understanding the horse’s body language
How to handle situations
When to call the vet and emergency supplies to have on hand
Leading/Riding:
Kids will be paired up. One partner will be leading while the other partner will ride. The partners will swap so everyone gets an opportunity.
Kids will get to bareback and ride in the saddle
Cost: $190 per rider.
The Beginner and Intermediate Camps cost a total of $190. You can pay the full $190 or $100 deposit to reserve your spot with the remaining $90 due by April 30th 2024. The total $190 needs to be paid in full by April 30th 2024 of you will forfeit your camp reservation spot. All payments and deposits are non-refundable.
